OUR FILMS AT BRUSSEL’S FESTIVAL ANIMA<\/h1> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

In the second half of 2022, the Czech Republic will hold the Presidency of the European Union and as part of this occasion, this year’s Anima Brussels festival helds \u201cCZECH-IN\u201d, an extensive focus on Czech animation organized in collaboration with the Czech Centre in Brussels, the Anifilm festival and Czech Film Center. Anima Brussels will screen Czech features and short films, with the participation of Czech filmmakers and representatives of Czech film schools.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The official festival programme will present 4 Czech exceptional animated feature films \u2013\u00a0My Sunny Maad<\/a><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0by Michaela Pavl\u00e1tov\u00e1 (Jury Award in Annecy, Golden Globe nomination, 2021),\u00a0Even Mice Belong in Heaven<\/em><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0by Denisa Grimmov\u00e1 and Jan Buben\u00ed\u010dek (European Film Award nomination, 2021),\u00a0A Colourful Dream<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by Jan Balej (Czech Lion Award in 2021) and Czech minority co-production\u00a0The Crossing<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by Florence Miailhe (Jury Distinction in Annecy 2021).\n

In addition, 41st Anima also helds two Czech compilations of current Czech animation, which have been curated by Pavel Hor\u00e1\u010dek, the artistic director of Czech Anifilm Festival.\u00a0Chic Czech, focused on children spectators, will offer a colorful palette of Czech animated shorts from recent years. Some of the works resonated at the international level \u2013 such as\u00a0The Kite<\/em><\/a>\u00a0by Martin Smatana (Berlinale\u2019s Generation Kplus in 2019) or\u00a0The Concrete Jungle<\/em>\u00a0by Marie Urb\u00e1nkov\u00e1 (Clermont-Ferrand ISFF 2020).<\/p>\n

The selection of\u00a0Czech This!\u00a0aims to show the range of Czech animation for older audience, and includes Oscar nominated and Student Oscar winning\u00a0Daughter<\/em><\/a>\u00a0by Daria Kashcheeva, Diana Cam Van Nguyen\u2019s\u00a0Love, Dad<\/em><\/a>, which won prizes at Toronto IFF or BFI London last year,\u00a0Sisters\u00a0<\/em><\/a>by Andrea Szelesov\u00e1 (Annecy 2021) or\u00a0Washing Machine<\/em><\/a>\u00a0by Alexandra M\u00e1jov\u00e1 (Clermont Ferrand 2021). Czech guests will also take part in the Czech This! programme. The Focus will open legendary Czech animator Ji\u0159\u00ed Barta with a presentation of his upcoming animated feature film\u00a0Golem<\/em>.
